Courage to Change

I believe it was Plato, the philosopher of ancient Greece , who was the first one to define a hierarchy for states of awareness. It went like this...

Reality can be likened to a cave with everyone in the world milling around inside, facing away from the cave mouth. Light streams in from this cave's mouth casting wonderful and inexplicable shadows on the far cave wall. The majority of the population sees the shadows on the cave wall and become captivated by what they see. Their entire reality is made up of these shadows on the wall.

There are certain individuals who realize that if they stand behind and slightly above the others and move in certain ways, they can control the shadows on the wall and capture the imagination of the people. Plato called this group "Kings".

There is a small group of folks who stand apart from the rest of the world and make the effort to look around. From this vantage point, these are the ones who understand where the shadows come from and how everything works. Many of this small group even realizes they are in a cave. These people are known as "Philosophers".

Every once in a great while, there is a Philosopher who understands everything, but realizes there is something more. This is the person who turns around, walks to the mouth of the cave, and steps out into the light. This person is known as a "Philosopher King".

To jump from one level to another in this hierarchy requires both courage and awareness. This necklace is designed to provide both.
