When I was young, I was enthralled by Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty . So many aspects of that story riveted me. The wicked Queen, both beautiful and horrible, who was willing to kill with a smile and soothing words, who had a talking mirror that would let her

see whatever she wanted. What little girl wouldn't love to be as cheerful and pretty as Sleeping Beauty? Who wouldn't want to be saved by and married to a prince?

But one thing I found a complete mystery were the dwarves. They were so happy. Now, I grew up in a mining town and I can tell you miners are not a happy lot. As far as I could tell, not one of them EVER whistled while he worked.
