Wish Upon A Star

I remember as a little girl I would lay out on the lush summer lawn at night and watch the stars twinkle and dance in the heavens. On those lucky occasions when I would get to see a shooting star, I would quickly shut my eyes and make a wish.

Every year on my birthday, I would do the same thing. Shut my eyes and make a wish as I blew out the candles on my birthday cake. I'm not even going to tell you how many wishes have come true when I have closed my eyes and kissed someone. Ooh-la-la!

Then one day I stopped to think about it and wondered if wishes only came true if our eyes were shut. Somehow that didn't seem fair to me.
