Grief and Loss

We've all had our heart broken at one time or another. There is nothing quite so sad for me as having to console someone who has just broken up with a paramour or lost someone dear to them. The worst part is that an unprotected heart is so very fragile. Once broken, it is never quite the same. You can patch it up, sure, but sometimes a person doesn't know what to do with such trauma. Even worse, they sometimes shut themselves off and build walls around their shattered heart.

But it need not be that way.

I designed this piece to do two things. It helps protect the heart of the wearer, easing the grief and despair of a breakup or loss of a loved one. At the same time, it helps to magnify ones capacity to love. This keeps the wearer in the game of life, not walled off. The silver patterned heart pendant represents a heart that has seen its share of pain, but was not destroyed by it. Rather, this heart bears an imprint of having loved and lost that is a thing of beauty. Its history is its art.

Our life's lessons leave a mark on us that creates a pattern of loveliness unique to each person. This piece helps acknowledge that with joy and helps us through the tough times with an abundance of love and openness.
