Expressions of Love

When I was growing up, our household was long on drama and short on expressions of love. My mother, God bless her, had her hands full with me and my emotionally distant father. She kept her unhappiness hidden, but with it she tucked away much of her affection. Even so, I could always count on my Grandma Shurock to let me know that I was special and that I was loved.

She didn't always show me by hugging me or telling me, either. She had a hundred ways to show me how much she loved me. Fresh baked cookies and lemonade on the porch. Her inimitable Irish wisdom and our long talks together. Special little remembrances or just her eyes gazing upon me filled with love. Even the little things said it all. I never knew another person so able to express love.

This necklace is made in honor of my Grandma Shurock. It enhances the wearer's ability to express their love. Because this is so essential for busy women today, it is meant to help the wearer be creative in the myriad ways they have to express love for those they care about.
