Bodyguard

One day I was standing at our local coffee shop waiting for my caramel hot chocolate (Mmmmm), when a police woman, the only female officer in our small town, walked in and ordered a coffee for her break. We started chatting and ended up sitting down at a table for the ten minutes or so she had to spend. Like most people during their midday coffe breaks, we began talking shop, she describing how women can best protect themselves, and I, thinking how a piece of jewelry could contribute to her recommendations. It wasn't until the end that she said exactly what I needed to know. She said, "The most important thing a woman can do to avoid trouble of any kind is to not appear to be a victim." In other words, if you give off the vibe that you are scared and vulnerable, you can easily be identified as prey.
